Once Upon a Time

This show was my original work in collaboration with my students and actors. I felt really passionate about teaching our students about Commedia dell'arte. I chose three musicals that would fit into Commedia dell'arte and taught the actors about where it originated, who and how the masks where used and after getting cast the actors had to identify which character type they would be playing.

In order to prepare them for this musical I lead multiple group movement exercises, showed them videos and sampled what some of these character type body movements looked like. Then I had all the actors try each different character type to see how this movement feels within their bodies.

This was an original production that my students at Evolve practiced their playwrighting skills. These make for some of the most entertaining and unique stories. Our summer program is one of our clients favorites.
