Spongebob the Musical: Youth Edition

At my theatre I love to break the bounds of gender to give everyone a fair chance and with SpongeBob we did just that! I wanted there to be an underlying message to bring awareness to the pollution in our oceans so a lot of the props of this show I tried to make out of trash items. I wanted this show to feel light hearted and fun for our audience so I kept the show upbeat and colorful!

When it comes to musicals I really like to take my time with the scenes as they are only a page or two. We explored each scene and tried to make them as dynamic as possible. The body work for this show had to be very over the top as well so I made sure to start rehearsals with fun movement exercises tailored to the scenes or songs we would be working on that day.
